President Muhammadu Buhari and wife Aisha have voted for the governorship candidate of their choice in Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

Buhari and Aisha cast their ballots before 10am local time in hometown of Daura.

The All Progressives Congress’ Aminu Bello Masari is seeking a second term in office as governor of Katsina state. Haw was speaker of the federal House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007.

Masari is contesting against main opposition Yakubu Lado of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Barely 48 hours before the governorship and state house of assembly elections, suspected kidnappers abducted Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf, mother-in-law of governor Masari.

Hajiya Hauwa, 80, is mother of Binta Masari, one of the governor’s three wives.

Before her kidnap, she was reported to be living at Dandume Crescent in Katsina Layout in the state capital.

It was gathered that the kidnappers, wearing masks and armed with weapons, stormed her residence around 3am and forced their way into her apartment and immediately whisked her away.
