The Governor of Kaduna State and some persons in the state have been thrown into mourning.

This is happening days after Governor Nasir El-Rufai said anyone that would want to intervene in Nigeria's election would go back in "body bags".

An attack happened in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state that claimed at least 66 lives.

The attack occurred as Nigerians prepare for the commencement of polls. 

It is a Fulani dominated location and Governor El-Rufai, who addressed reporters on the attack on Friday, also highlighted this.

He stressed that no individual had the right to kill a fellow human and that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be held accountable. 

He said the killing may have been perpetrated to trigger a appraisal attack, but emphasised that his government would do its best to stop such occurrence. 

According to Governor El-Rufai, some arrests have been made in connection with the attack. 

Bandits have been blamed for some killings in the region.
