#EkitiDecides2018: Is Ondo State Financially Bleeding?
With the conclusion of electoral activities in Ekiti and the emergence of APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi at the poll, government officials in Ondo state are now back to their duty posts.
But these officials have allegedly returned to a state that is bleeding on all sides from the financial impact of the spending done in Ekiti state.
The thank you visit by the leaders of APC in Ekiti state to their Ondo counterparts on Friday succinctly confirmed the brotherly roles the Akeredolu-led government played which ultimately landed the victory for the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi.
It was confirmed that a few weeks to the election, government activities were put on hold in Ondo as all state executive members were said to have relocated to Ekiti.
State treasury was believed to have been depleted which according to a source, is currently having a devastating effect on the state's economy.
A civil servant in the state confirmed to Bounce News that some ministries have not collected salary in the last four months.
"It has been different strokes for different folks in Ondo state. Teachers are being owed about four months salaries presently while some ministries are just three. As things stand now, nobody is expecting salary in Ondo state this month except there is a miracle." He disclosed.
While the state workers appeared to be groaning under the heavyweight of electoral consequence in Ekiti, party leaders belief that Akeredolu has merely returned a favour to Fayemi.
This fact was established by the party chairman, Ade Adetimehin.
"In 2012, Dr. Fayemi was at the forefront of our governorship campaigns here in Ondo State. Though we lost that election, but he was not deterred. Again in 2016, he presented himself a pillar to lean on till we emerged victorious", said Adetimehin.
