The pang of defeat in Ekiti state has taken a frustrating toll on supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State.

Members of the party in Idanre Local Government Area of the state were said to have engaged in a free for all, leaving one of the ward chairmen, Frederick Akindayomi critically injured.

According to a source, trouble began when a PDP leader in the town, Mayokun Akinmoladun posted the 2014 governorship election result in Ekiti on social media.

The development was said to have infuriated the APC members which led to name callings and verbal assaults between the supporters of both parties.

"We heard there was a crisis in Irowo that political parties supporters were fighting. We were surprised because there is no political activity presently in Ondo State. How come they are fighting? The next thing we heard was that some people have been attacked and are in the hospital." Said Babalola Akinyode, APC member.

Giving his eye witness account, Kehinde Olofinsawe, a PDP supporter blamed the ruling party supporters for the crisis.

"We were deliberating on the result of Ekiti election posted by Mayokun when some of their supporters started calling us thieves, election riggers and before we know it, they started throwing sticks and pebbles.

"It was in the process of calming the situation that the ward chairman was attacked and beaten to pulp." He said.

Leaders of the ruling party in the town have however dissociated themselves from the attackers, describing them as hoodlums.

"We have reported the matter to the police and they have assured us that those involved will be fished out and brought to book." Said an APC chieftain who pleaded anonymity.

The victim who is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital could not speak to our reporter as the time of visit.
