The People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola has emerged the winner in his local government, Ikere.

The result was announced by the local government area returning officer, Prof Victor Osaroedo at the ongoing collation exercise happening now in Ado-Ekiti.

Kolapo polled a total of 17,183 votes beating APC's Dr Kayode Fayemi who polled 11,515 votes.

Despite the win though, things are not looking good for the PDP as they've lost in 8 of the total 16 local governments in the state, and won in only 3 - Efon, Emure and Ikere.

Ikere has the second highest number of voters in the state.

Following hours of result collation, the Ekiti state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abdulganiyu Raji kicked off result announcement proceedings with a welcome address at about 2:34am.

He stated that results from 14 local governments were ready, adding that results from the remaining two will be made available in a few hours.
