A traditional ruler in Ekiti State has been hacked to death.

Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin who is the Olowa of Odo Oro Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area, was stabbed to death with a knife on Monday by a man suspected to be insane after a meeting of the traditional council.

The monarch was stabbed by the assailant while he was attempting to enter his vehicle after the council meeting.

The assailant was from the same royal family as the slain traditional ruler, and was earlier seen before the council meeting, sitting on the throne, then was chased away.

Eyewitnesses told Bounce News that the monarch was stabbed on the chest several times before help could come.

The monarch was said to have died on the spot.

The assailant escaped into the bush after committing the crime.

It was gathered that as news of the death of the monarch spread in the community, some irate youths  took to the streets in search of the assailant.
