Former Minister of Solid Minerals Development who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Ekiti State governorship election, Kayode Fayemi, has picked a former chairman of Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Adebisi Egbeyemi, as his running mate.

Egbeyemi, a native of Ado-Ekiti, is 74 years old and was born on May 8, 1944.

It is gathered that the decision to have Egbeyemi run with Fayemi was reached by party leaders after several hours of meeting on Thursday night.

Prior to the announcement of Egbeyemi as Fayemi’s running mate, several prominent names had been dropped.

The President of Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN) in the state, Alhaja Asubiaro was recently rumoured as Fayemi’s running mate.

Egbeyemi is a lawyer and founding member of Action Congress which later transmuted to Action Congress of Nigeria, which formed a component of the APC.
