Ekiti Decides: Buhari’s Minister Campaigns For PDP, Fayose
The Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige on Tuesday told the people of Ekiti State to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent Governor Ayodele Fayose in Saturday’s guber polls in the State.
Ngige made the goof during the rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti, the capital city, ahead of the election .
“Those who want Saturday to happen should raise your hand with PVCs, Mr President and leaders of our party, our people are ready,” the minister had said.
“We thank the leaders of our party especially those from the South West for forgiving the Ekiti people for the mistake they made in 2014 so they won’t make that mistake again.
At this point, the leaders of the party including President Muhammadu Buhari and his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Abike Dabiri, were all smiles without knowing what was coming next.
Ngige continued: “They won’t make that mistake again. If you marry two wives, you will know the better wife. Fayose (sic) is the better wife.
“Fayose cooks and gives her husband food. She doesn’t give him trouble. So you must bring Back Fayose on Saturday.”
With this repetition, Dabiri who had obviously had enough was seen frantically tapping his shoulders and whispering Fayemi’s name to him.
In response to his appeal to the crowd to vote for Fayose, they shouted a resounding no, which made the labour minister to be bewildered at the turn of events.
He could not stop at the first instance so he continued, apparently ignorant of the name of the person they had come to rally for.
Goof again from a Minister of the ruling party who is supposed to know Fayemi who was also a minister.
