Eguavoen, 3 Others Arrested For Indiscriminate Shooting
Sergeant Eguavoen and three of his colleagues may not have another chance to legally handle a gun.
Authorities have arrested them for allegedly firing some shots at the airport tollgate, hitting one Tunde Adeparusi, and leaving him injured.
The incident happened at the tollgate end of the airport on Friday 20th July and on receipt of the report, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi immediately ordered the Command X-Squad section to fish out the policemen involved.
As a result, the four policemen - Inspector Christian Offor, Inspector Kingsley Umeji, Sergeant David Eguavoen, and Sergeant Paul Ebo were arrested.
The above named policemen are now under investigation at X-Squad section, and if the allegations against them are established, they will be marched before the Command's Provost for their orderly room trials.
According to PPRO Chike Oti, the CP reiterated that unruly policemen and their like who have refused to key into the professional ethos of the Force have no room in this era of democratic policing, and called on police officers in Lagos to be professional in the discharge of their duties.
