Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho missed out on a chance to prove his worth against his former club, Manchester City as he fired blanks in his almost one hour on the pitch during Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter final clash at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho who has been freezed out of Leicester City's starting lineups for League games was giving the nod to start against a second-string City team but he failed to impress again.

At the end, it was Manchester City that booked their spot in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup courtesy of a penalty-shootout victory over the Foxes.

Jamie Vardy who was brought in to replace the 'fumbling' Iheanacho scored a 97th-minute penalty to cancel out a first-half Bernardo Silva effort as the last-eight tie headed for extra-time.

With the extra time failing to produce another goal, a penalty shootout was therefore needed to decide the outcome.

It was Man City that held their nerves and won by 4 goals to 3 after Vardy and Riyad Mahrez both missed for the home side.
