When 'Peter the Rock' Ayodele Fayose was leaving office on October 14 as governor of Ekiti State after his second four-year term, he already an idea of what awaits as he took off the immunity cloak.

In his usual dramatic style, Fayose was the one who turned himself in to the EFCC and after few days in custody, the former governor was arraigned in court on Monday.

As expected, many matters will be arising from this relaunched legal battle.

The EFCC looks determined to nail the former governor as they have slammed 11 charges against him and has also listed 22 witnesses against Fayose.

From his arraignment on Monday, one would expect a long road to justice as Fayose on Monday pleaded not guilty to all the 11 counts.

Aside the weight of allegations leveled against him, there is the assumption that the government in power have a special interest in this case going by how Fayose has continually talked down on the APC government led by Buhari.

It was thus not surprising when Fayose's counsel, Kanu Agabi moved for a bail application for the ex-governor but that request was promptly turned down.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun adjourned the matter to Wednesday, October 24 to hear the bail application but he has meanwhile asked that Fayose be remanded.

The same way the EFCC are looking like they have done their homework well enough and are going to nail Fayose sooner rather than later, the former Ekiti Governor is also giving room to believe that all the anti-graft body is doing is child's play as he smiled intermittently.

For Fayose's counsel, they are a complete departure from their principal, they have chosen to stay mum while proceedings continue in the court room.

While Agabi said it was too early to speak, Rotimi Oyedepo declined comments because Agabi had refused to speak.

Fayode also commands the loyalty of many; including top PDP members Femi Fani Kayode who was with him in court on Monday, peaceful protests and more prominent people coming to court in the days ahead is what we should brace up for.
