If you are a contractor working on a project belonging to the federal government and you have neglected it, EFCC is coming for you.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has dispatched teams of operatives to investigate abandoned projects across the country.

Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu on Monday disclosed this in Gombe during a stakeholders meeting.

Magu explained that the move is to ensure that contractors complete these projects so that Nigerians can benefit from them.

Magu was in Gombe to persuade more strategic stakeholders to join in the anti-corruption campaign.

Speaking with leaders of civil society organizations, religious and traditional rulers, and business owners amongst others, Magu explained some of the strategies his commission is employing to achieve its mandate.

“It will be naïve for anyone to expect the war against corruption to be smooth. The war against corruption is not an easy one.

“Corruption resists and definitely fights back, therefore it should not be left for the anti-graft and law enforcement agencies alone,” he said.

The Acting EFCC boss also stressed the need for Nigeria voters to be educated so as to vote right.

Ibrahim Magu called on civil society organizations, religious organizations, traditional leaders as well as youth organisations to help the commission in sensitisation of these voters to be circumspect in the exercise of their franchise and to vote right, for the betterment of the country.

“We all must be careful as citizens to ensure that only people with proven records of integrity are elected into offices”.

“The EFCC has been able to secure 172 convictions from January to date and the figure is expected to improve significantly before the year ends.

“Over the past three years the commission under my leadership has consistently recorded improvements in the areas of prosecution of persons and recovery of stolen assets,” he said.
