The employment scheme devised by the federal government to keep fresh graduates busy is swelling the coffers of Ebonyi State government.

The state has earned at least 600 million Naira through the N-Power initiatives since December 2016.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and Youth Employment, Afolabi Imoukhuede, said this during a forum in Abakaliki.

However, he noted that in spite of the investments, the volunteers had yet to come to terms with the vision of the programme resulting in chronic absenteeism from places of deployment.

Imoukhuede said that the Federal Government would no longer tolerate truancy, adding that 21 volunteers in different states are on suspension for flaunting several regulations .

He said N-Power is a programme to facilitate skills of volunteers and advised any participant who had secured employment since joining the scheme to quit.
