Ebonyi Govt. Bans Use Of Phones In Council Chamber
The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state says anyone seen in the executive council chamber with phones, laptops, IPADS and any other mobile device will be sanctioned.
A statement signed by Dr. Ugbala Kenneth read in part, "please henceforth, phones, laptops, IPADs, and other magnetic device inductions are not allowed inside the executive chamber and governor's office. Any defaulter will be sanctioned.''
In order to enforce the ban, fierce looking security operatives were drafted to mount both entrance doors of the executive council chamber, searching people going in.
Some members of exco, who had earlier found their way into the executive council chamber with their phones, had them collected. Like the deputy governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe had his phone confiscated inside the chamber.
Journalists were also affected as security agents made use of scanners to ensure they do not enter the chamber with midgets.
The targets, Bounce News gathered, were the commissioners, other top government functionaries and journalists.
A source close to government house had alleged that there had been leakages of classified government information even before the end of previous executive council meeting.
