Several months after Africa has been declared Ebola free, the dreaded virus has reared its head again in Democratic Republic of Congo.

The World Health Organization said on Friday that the virus had caused three deaths in the area since April 22.

The outbreak affects an equatorial forest region in Bas-Uele province, bordering Central African Republic.

In 2014, an outbreak of Ebola in Congo was quickly contained but not before at least 49 people had died, according to official figures.
