Pressing the panic button because the Senior Women's Basketball Team lost their first friendly game against a male team in Raptors is not necessary.

Vice President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Babs Oguande gave this notion, having watched the D'Tigress team lose 71-51 to Division 1 side, Raptors Basketball club of Lagos.

An impressed Oguande expressed optimism that in the next couple of days, the team should be ready to launch a title challenge in Mali.

He said: “Initially, they were jittery but as the game went on, they got better and that is truly the case in a team sport. The more games you play, the more you get better and I am hoping by the time we play the next game, we will be doing better than this"

Also, Charles Ibeziako who led the Raptors team said he is positive 'D'Tigeress will do well in Mali.

“Women playing against men is a tough game. But with what I have seen, they are tough and will represent Nigeria very well.”

D'Tigress are expected to play one or two more test matches before heading to Mali to challenge for the African title.
