‘DSS Boss Daura Should Have Been Suspended Not Sacked’
It is no longer news that the Director General of the Department of State Service Lawal Duara, has been sacked, arrested and under investigation.
He was fired by the Acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo following the invasion of the national assembly by operatives of the service on Tuesday.
Even though the acting president has been receiving accolades for the ordering the sack, a lawyer in Gombe does not agree totally with the sack.
Sa’idu Mu’azu Kumo said Daura should have been suspended instead of sacked.
Mu’azu Kumo who spoke to Bounce News in Gombe said, the Daura should have been given a fair hearing as stipulated by section 36 of the constitution.
“Even though there were political motives in the event, but I think Daura should have been suspended and a committee of inquiry set up to.
“Sacking of the former DG by the presidency should have come after report by a committee or panel that must have investigated the issue.
“But now that he has been sacked and arrested by the police, he must be released on bail or charge to court within 24hours that is if they have anything on him.
“If he is not released on bail, he is entitled to sue the government and demand for fair hearing.
“On this issue I cannot praise or fault the government for the sack action taken against him until a fair hearing is given to him,” he said.
