While the head of the family, Joseph Akpan, 72 is currently in coma, Martina Christopher is just a fortunate member of the family who lives to tell the ugly story of their ill-treatment in the hand of the assailants.

The suspected drug barons numbering about 40 allegedly invaded Bolorunduro town in Ondo state with 15 motorcycles claiming to be searching for a bag of marijuana.

They were said to have seized one Akpan whom they accused of stealing the bag, took him to a bush and beat him to pulp.

According to Mrs. Christopher who is a sister to the victim, after torturing and leaving him to die, they later descended on her and her 72-year old father.

"I went to the bush where they took my brother to, with our father only to find him being severely beaten and immediately they saw us, they descended on us and beat my father till he fainted.

"When I tried to touch him, they macheted me with cutlass while some of them beat me with sticks. I also fainted because I had already lost a lot of blood. They were all demanding the whereabouts of the bag of marijuana", she said.

She was later taken to the police station by her husband where she was revived and taken to the hospital.

One of the members of Akwa Ibom community in the area disclosed that Mrs Christopher had just lost a pregnancy few days ago and she was only trying to recover from the shock after losing so much blood before the latest occurrence.

It was gathered that the drug dealers had stormed the community with dangerous weapons and threatened to wipe the entire community if they failed to produce the lost bag of India Hemp.

They were said to have boasted that no police or any security agent can arrest them.

However, the State police spokesman, Femi Joseph confirmed the invasion and claimed that some arrest have been made while the case had been transferred to the state criminal Investigation department.
