As the Super Eagles get set to face Poland and Serbia in international friendly games ahead of the Russia 2018 World Cup, an ex-international, Henry Nwosu has appealed to the team not to disgrace Nigeria.

Nwosu in a chat with Bounce Sports said while he is not desperate to see the Eagles win their test matches as they are are actually meant to prepare the team, the players should give their best and not allow any scandalous defeats.

"I expect the players to give their best even though we are building a team, they should not allow themselves or Nigeria to be disgraced by the way of a woeful defeat.

"I don't mind if we lose but let us lose gallantly. In other words we should give our best in the two games" the prolific forward who was part of Nigeria's winning squad during the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations appealed.

While it is yet to be seen how the game will go, Nwosu was quick to warn that whatever is the outcome from the friendly games does not mean it will be the same in the World Cup proper.

"Mind you the result we get whether good or bad does not necessarily mean we will have the same at the World Cup but it will just show us what we need to do going forward" he said.

Three–time African champions Nigeria will trade tackles with the Bialo-Czerwoni (White and Red) or Eagles, as the Senior National Team of Poland is known, at the 43,000 –capacity Stadium Wroclaw on Friday night.

Four days later, the Eagles will take to the pitch against the Senior National Team of Serbia at The Hive, London.

These are the first two in a list of six friendly encounters planned for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the 21st FIFA World Cup finals in the Russian Federation this summer.
