Midfielder Danny Drinkwater has joined English Premier League champions Chelsea for £35m from Leicester City.

Drinkwater was Chelsea’s second signing on transfer deadline day after the Blues sealed a four-year-deal for defender Davide Zappacosta from Torino.

The 27-year-old has not played for Leicester this season owing to a thigh injury.

But he played a vital role to help the Foxes win the EPL in 2016, where he featured in 35 of Leicester City’s 38 matches.

"I'm delighted to be a Chelsea player and can't wait to get started. It has been a long journey to get here but I am very happy and am looking forward to helping the club win more trophies." Drinkwater said.

He will be joining former teammate N'Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge.
