Gunmen on Sunday hijacked a bus filled with passengers at the Emohua-axis of the East-West road in Rivers State.

This is coming days after the Rivers State police command ordered a state of emergency on the road following killings and kidnapping by hoodlums along the road.

Bounce News gathered from reliable sources that the incident happened at about 4 pm in the evening.

It was gathered that the bus was travelling from Ahoada area to Port Harcourt axis before the armed men struck.

According to a source, the driver of another company escaped from the hoodlums after his vehicle was shot at severally.

The identities of the persons who were abducted are still unknown.

According to the source, when drivers plying the road heard news of the incident, they stopped working, leaving people travelling outside Port Harcourt stranded.

The source disclosed that commuters on the road were stranded for over 40 minutes before security operates arrived the scene.

The PRO of the Rivers state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, denied knowledge of the attack, stressing that he is yet to be briefed on the matter.
