Dating Tips: 3 Things You Should Never Do On A First Date
It's a long weekend and for some folks, a date or two could be in the works.
First dates are like job interviews – you’re nervous, anxious and eager to impress the person on the other side of the table. And they’re probably feeling the same way too.
However, it doesn’t help at all when you try too hard and end up pissing off the other person or unintentionally giving them reasons to not want to have a second date with you.
Remember, you only have one chance to make a first impression, so don’t mess it up. Here are 3 things you shouldn’t do on a first date.

1. Don’t be late: Yes, we know it’s not a business meeting but it is equally important to show up for your first date on time. Keeping your date waiting for so long that they have to either call or text you to find out if you’ll still show up is all shades of wrong. Like, that’s the one of the ‘best’ ways to blow your chances of getting a second date. Plan ahead for the date and be punctual.
2. Don’t be self-absorbed: Try not to make yourself the centre of every conversation. Allow your date to also chip in something about him/herself, because that is how you get to know more about each other. But if the conversation is predominantly one-sided, it would become boring for the other person. Keep your discussions light and chatty, and steer off controversial topics that can lead to heated arguments. There’s nothing as terrible as a romantic date turning into a fighting match.
3. Don’t spill your guts: It’s a first time date, not a confessional. So leave out your family troubles, your shitty ex, or your awful job. Nobody wants to listen to someone who moans endlessly about their problems. Present your happy and cheerful side to your date, make them see you as an interesting person who they’d always enjoy hanging out with. But don’t turn it into a circus – be pleasant but don’t overdo it. Just relax and be yourself.
