The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has tipped the Bobsled trio team to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang to win a medal in future Winter Games.

Basking in the euphoria of a first ever appearance at the Winter Games by Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere, Dalung said the country's flag has been hoisted at the Winter Games for the first time while making a mark as the first ever African nation to qualify.

"The Bobsled team's performance at the women's category of the Bobsled event is historic as this is their first appearance at any Winter Olympics. Despite placing 20th overall, it means they're among the world's best 20 Bobsled athletes. They also recorded an overall personal best time of 3.29.60secs at the Games.

"Nigerians are happy and proud of the girls for their courage and determination in putting Nigeria's name on the world map of achievers. Their patriotism is unparalleled. Having watched them in their first attempt, I am very hopeful that these ladies will shock the world at the next Winter Olympics in Beijing.
