Customs Draw Battle Line With Smugglers Of Petroleum Products
If you have been involved in smuggling of petroleum products across Seme border to neighbouring countries, you should be on your guard.
This is because, the Nigerian Customs Service, Seme Area Command has declared war on petroleum products smuggling.
The Customs Area Controller, Seme Border, Mohammed Aliyu, has warned smugglers of petroleum products in jerry cans to desist from the act or face grave consequences.
He warned that when caught, the perpetrators would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He gave the assurance that the present leadership of the NCS was ready to punish all errant officers attempting to thwart government’s efforts at tackling the menace of smuggling.
According to a statement from the NCS Seme command, Aliyu stated this while intimating the media about the achievements of the command in the past one year.
He said that the command had recently clamped down on smugglers of petroleum products in 25 litres jerry cans through the creeks and other illegal routes.
Aliyu stressed that the command would continue to enforce its mandate of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and facilitation of legitimate trade as well as protecting the land borders against illicit smuggling and trafficking of light weapons.
