Cultism: One Hacked To Death In Ebonyi
Death arising from cult related activities seems to be on the rise in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
This is because barely seven days after cult activities claimed the lives of two persons, Paul Ogeh and Ansalem Omah, another death has been recorded.
Maduabuchi Obazi, aged 25, was brutally murdered by persons suspected to be members of a secret cult at Umuogodoakpu village in Ohaukwu.
Police report has it that Maduabuchi had altercation with persons suspected to be members of a rival cult group over telecommunication facilities and was trailed and killed while he was going to see his wife where she was frying garri.
ASP Loveth Odah, Ebonyi Police Command Spokesperson, who confirmed the incident said that two persons have been arrested in connection with the killing.
“On the 12th of June, 2018 by 12 O clock, one Simon Akpu of Umuogodoakpu Ngbo came to the station and reported that on the 11th at about 11pm, the deceased, Maduabuchi Obasi of the same address; 25-years-old, was hacked down with a sharp weapon on his way to see his wife where he was frying garri.

“The scene of crime was visited by a team of police from Ohaukwu Police Divisional Headquarters. Two suspects were arrested which include one Chinedu Ogba, 25 and one Chukwudi Ali, 26. All of them of the same address.
“The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary at Ngbo for autopsy. The investigation is being led by the Ngbo police and the case will soon be transferred to court.''
Meanwhile, Chairman of Ohaukwu, Barrister Clement Omenkannya Odah, in a security meeting held with stakeholders from the area, had called on the traditional ruler to commence community vilgilante.
Odah made the call during a security meeting held at Central School Ngbo in Ohaukwu local government area.
“The reason why we are here is that our collective security has been threatened, so we want to take our destiny in our hands and we have all decided to say no to bad elements.
“Before Tuesday last week, which was the 6th day of June, 2018, we had enjoyed peace for almost one year. The year 2017 in my assessment was a peaceful year because we won in the war against all forms of social vices”, he said.
