Crocodile Smile 2: Over 40 Suspects Arrested In Lagos, Ogun
This crocodile is not smiling and criminals are on the run.
Few days into the launch of a military operation, 'Exercise Crocodile Smile 2', at least 40 suspects have been arrested for various offences within Lagos and Ogun states.
The Nigerian Army gave the figure in Lagos on Tuesday in a statement by the spokesman for the 81 Division Lt.-Col. Olaolu Daudu.
The arrests were made in the course of troops routine activities with the support of other sister services, security and para military agencies.
The Statement read: “Some suspected criminals have been arrested. Drug peddlers, cultists, car snatchers and other criminal elements have been denied freedom of action through patrols, raids, road blocks and checkpoints.
“On October 4, based on credible information on activities of pipeline vandals at Ronik Hotel Agbule Egba area of Lagos state, troops of 149 Battalion, 81 Division Nigerian Army were immediately dispatched for a Cordon and search Operation.
“The troops arrested the suspected pipeline vandals and items found within the hotel premises include 16 loaded kegs of premium motor spirit (PMS), 5 cars and 2 tankers loaded with PMS,” he said.
Arrested suspects have been interrogated, profiled and handed over to the NSCDC.
Daudu further gave a breakdown of other arrests made in Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry area of Lagos State, urging residents of Lagos and Ogun States to cooperate with security agencies by remaining law abiding.
Car thieves, bag snatchers, cultists and armed robbers were among the 40 persons arrested.
