Ronaldo has been named the Portuguese Player of the Year for 2017 at the Quinas de Ouro.

That was a surprise, right?

Perhaps, this is one that should not even make the news.

This is also the third time in a row he has won this award, making him the only recipient since the Quinas de Ouro began.

He beat out Bernardo Silva and Rui Patricio for the award, receiving a dominant 65% of the vote total.

2017 was good to Ronaldo after winning La Liga, a second consecutive Champions League title, European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, the Club World Cup, France Football’s Ballon d’Or, and FIFA’s “Best” Award.

Although the La Liga seems out of his reach, Real Madrid are still in the Champions League, and the World Cup beckons in the summer.

So, perhaps, he can still replicate some of this success in 2018.

The Quinas de Ouro is an award ceremony for Portugal’s finest in the beautiful game.
