Back in August, no one thought Philippe Coutinho would remain a Liverpool player but all forces worked to ensure his dream move to Barcelona failed to materialize.

Barca’s fat account after the Neymar world record jackpot meant they had enough cash to replace him, but Liverpool rejected series of eye-popping bids from Barca.

All is past now; the transfer window is shut but there have been doubts about Coutinho’s commitment among Liverpool fans.

Why not? Everyone saw that he wanted the move too and he has now admitted that he was truly interested in moving to Barcelona.

However, the gifted Brazilian has also vowed to give his all for Liverpool as long as he remains a Reds player.

"What happened was a job offer and, in life, sometimes you get interested, sometimes you don't, and in my case, as everybody knows, I got interested, my family too," he told ESPN Brazil after Saturday's 1-1 draw.

"But as I've always said, it's a great honour to receive an offer from such a great club like that, but it's also a great honour being here, Liverpool is a great club worldwide.

"Now I'm here and I'll give my best, as always."

Coutinho made his first Liverpool appearance of the season as a substitute in the Champions League 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Wednesday and started against Burnley in the Premier League three days later.
