Philippe Coutinho has returned to Liverpool and trained with the Jurgen Klopp side on Thursday after the international break.

Coutinho failed after he tried to force a move to Barcelona. He submitted a transfer request which was turned down by Liverpool.

The playmaker has not featured for the English club this season, missing Liverpool’s three English Premier League matches with Klopp blaming it on a back injury.

But the 25-year-old joined up with his national side for World Cup qualifiers and made two substitute appearances against Ecuador and Colombia, scoring against the former.

Liverpool travel to the Etihad Stadium for an early kickoff against Manchester City on Saturday, a game Klopp may feature Coutinho.

Liverpool have made a strong start to their Premier League campaign and sit in second place behind Manchester United after two wins and a draw from their first three fixtures.
