Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho has kicked off life at his new club Barcelona.

Coutinho started his Barcelona career on the bench on Thursday for the Copa del Rey quarter-final second leg tie against city neighbours Espanyol at Camp Nou.

The 25-year-old, who signed for 160 million euros ($194 million) from Liverpool, had seen his debut delayed due to a thigh injury.

Barcelona are looking to overturn a 1-0 defeat by Espanyol in the first leg.

Coach Ernesto Valverde named captain Andres Iniesta, back from injury, in the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina, signed from Brazilian side Palmeiras for 11.8 million euros ($14 million), joined Coutinho on the bench.
