Court Jails Man For Stealing Motorcycle
Anthony Ogbodu stole a motorcycle belonging to one Taiwo Ige, but was caught by a security guard and handed over to the police.
The motorcycle is worth N150,000.
The 45-year-old man was arraigned in court and he quickly pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.
However, his plea fell on deaf ears as an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Monday sentenced him to one year in prison.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, who gave the ruling, did not give the convict any option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 10 at about 1AM at No. 32 Ajala Close, Temidire, Ota.
Gbesi said that the action contravenes Section 390(4) of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun.
