The quest of Senator Dino Melaye; the senator representing Kogi West, to come out of detention suffered a setback on Monday when his bail application was adjourned.

The Chief Justice of Kogi State High Court, Nasiru Ajanah, adjourned the hearing on the application till May 10.

According to him, the lawyers of the Police and Senator Melaye failed to file their affidavit on the bail application.

This is coming days after the same court remanded the troubled Senator in police custody for alleged unlawful possession of arms.

He is standing trail with two others in Kogi State.

Melaye is at the National Hospital Abuja where the court in an interim ordered on May 4 that he should be moved to enable the Senator to continue his treatment.

His counsel, Mike Ozekhome, had on that day sought bail for his client who has been in the hospital since April 24, after he jumped from a police vehicle in what the police described as an attempt to avert arrest.
