Council Chairman, Deputy Fired For Supporting APC Gov Candidate
The face-off between the All Progressives Congress and Allied People’s Movement in Ogun State on Monday has deepened.
Four Councillors have been reportedly sacked by the Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, Femi Onanuga.
Onanuga was fired for allegedly declaring his support for the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Dapo Abiodun.
The councillors also sacked Onanuga’s deputy and two other councillors suspected to be working for the APC candidate.
Onanuga confirmed his “illegal impeachment”.
He disclosed that his crime was that he refused to join forces with Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his supporters in what he termed as “anti-party activities”.
He said, “I was impeached in just 20 minutes. I don’t know what I did wrong.
“I refused to join the APM. I refused to be involved in anti-party activities; I told them that I was elected on the platform of the APC. I support President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates.”
He added, “A quorum could only be formed by five councillors but four out of six councillors suspended the other two and impeached me and my deputy.”
