It seems Nigeria now has a 'new state’ and it is the richest and wealthiest in the county.

Lagos-based human rights lawyer Mike Ozekhome (SAN) made the disclosure in a summit holding in Abuja.

He said: “Corruption is the 37th state in Nigeria and it is the richest and wealthiest state in the country”.

According to him, the fight against corruption must not be selective and no sacred cows.

He appreciated the acting chairman of the Economic and financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu for inviting him to the program, despite uncovering a 75 million Naira account traced to him.

The sum was eventual seized based on the order of the Lagos High Court last month.

On the rejection of the embattled EFCC chairman by the senate, Mike said he has known Magu since 1997 and he is a man of integrity.

Other speakers at the event included immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, member of the House of Representatives, Kayode Oladele and the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu.
