Chelsea has not officially disengaged manager Antonio Conte, but appear to have snubbed the Italian in plans for the new football season.

According to report, a member of Chelsea's technical staff emailed players not at the World Cup to tell them to report to the training ground on Saturday and Sunday for fitness tests, but Conte contradicted the club.

He responded by saying that he is still in charge and that everyone should return on Monday instead.

Conte is yet to be told of his fate by the club's hierarchy, and his compatriot, former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has yet to be appointed.

Since Conte has a year left to run on his Chelsea contract, he is entitled to be paid for a further 12 months until he takes another job.

Chelsea has five weeks, before the start of a new Premier League season, to decide whether to keep Conte or not.

Conte has been touted to leave Stamford Bridge after falling out with owner Roman Abramovich.
