Aro, until his death was a motor-boy. He was shot dead in a truck parked at a carwash centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Most of the time, crimes like this are committed by security agents who call it accidental discharge but the shooter in this case was another customer who had also gone to wash his car.

“After washing his car, he complained that the fuel tanker the boy was working on had blocked his passage,” an eyewitness said.

“The trailer with registration number TTD 456XA and the inscription – NIPCO, was also brought for washing, and it was waiting for a parking space.

“The‎ driver was said to have taken a stroll within the vicinity, when the gunman approached the motor-boy sitting inside the truck.

“Aro was said to be pacifying the man but to the shock of the everyone at the centre, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the motor-boy in the heart region at a close range, resulting in instant death. He then ran away with his car.”

If he could easily run away with his car, this means the tanker was not really obstructing his passage. So, why did he kill Aro?

It is not a strange story but it is not less worrisome as one wonders if the government is paying attention to the state of mental health of many Nigerians.

It was gathered that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, promptly visited the crime scene and mandated his men to find the killer.

Has he been found? We will keep an eye on it.
