Civil Defence Uncovers 71 Cases Of 500 Litres Fake Fuel
This could be greed, desperation, sheer wickedness or all of those put together.
Reports reaching us suggests the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Akwa Ibom has impounded 71, 500 litres of fake petroleum products at an illegal petroleum dump site in Ikot-Udoma, Eket Local Government Area.
A truck carrying over 80 drums of the adulterated petroleum products was also seized.
Other goods confiscated, included three pumping machines, four 33 litres of surface tanks and one white saloon car.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Obiagheli Obiagulu, who made this known in Uyo on Friday, said the illegal petroleum dumb site was discovered at a mechanic workshop.
According to her, the items have been moved to NSCDC exhibition yard in Uyo.
Unfortunately, no one has been arrested in connection with the illegal activity as the suspects were said to have escaped.
The mechanic workshop that the perpetrators used was said to have been overgrown with weeds in order to conceal the crime.
But Obiagulu has vowed that the officers and men would trail the suspects and bring them to book.
