Even though Christmas is still three months away, an Anambra woman has done the unthinkable in order to have fun during the festive period.

A 28-year-old woman, Oluchi Mba, residing in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, allegedly sold her seven-day-old baby boy for N350,000.

Southern City News learnt on Tuesday that Mba took the decision in a bid to raise money to celebrate this year’s Christmas.

Southern City News reports that the woman was boasting about how she would have a fun-filled Christmas this year before she was arrested.

“We were together one Sunday and she was boasting about how she would celebrate this year’s Christmas in grand style.

“I told her that it was too early to plan for Christmas now, but she kept on boasting and saying she would want to have fun during the season. I didn’t know she was planning to sell her own child. This is terrible,” the source stated.

Mba reportedly sold the baby to a 55-year-old, Edith Obiakor, of Akudo Street in Nkpor.

Obiakor, it was gathered, resold the baby to her in-law, one Vitus Aniunoh, 50, of Patterson Street, Fegge in Onitsha for N650,000.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident.

He said the suspects had been arrested, adding that the baby had been recovered. Mohammed said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
