"Choose Whoever You Like", Buhari Tells Supporters Again
Things had fallen apart for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State after the incumbent Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, lost a bid to install his anointed one as the governorship candidate of his party.
Amosun had told President Muhammadu Buhari at one of the meetings held to resolve the issue that he had put his feet on the ground on the matter.
How much balance his feet had in the state was obvious at the rally of his party, the APC, in the state attended by President Buhari.,
The disagreement between the leadership of the party and Governor Amosun was extended to his supporters who were at the rally held at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
A look around the stadium will show that the really was not one of those that the APC would enjoy total support from the crowd.
Posters of persons campaigning for different positions in the states were help up by supporters, but majority of them had President Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo's pictures on one side of their placards while the other side had the picture of a candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (AMP), Adekunle Akinlade.
While they support Buhari's 4 + 4 = 8 bid, they have showed their resentment for the governorship candidate of the APC, Adedapo Abiodun.
This is a result of the division in the party after Amosun's choice-candidate, Akinlade, failed to secure the APC's ticket.
Adams Oshiomhole, the division was extended to the Chairman of the APC, who was allegedly used by the leadership of the party to install Abiodun, got a share of the cake when he wanted to address the crowd.
He was booed and he ditched his address.
When it was the turn of President Buhari to address his supporters, he replicated his statement in Imo State, another state APC's decision on a governorship candidate had turn apart.
"I urge you to to come out on Saturday and on the 2nd of March and choose whoever you like across the parties
"This is your right. This is your right.
"So, there is no problem about it. I have no problem about it," President Buhari told the gathering.
He then screamed: "APC" and the crowed cheered him on, as he had made a wise statement.
President Buhari then took the left arm of the candidate of the APC whom the people had showed lack of support for just to fulfil political anticipations.
He raised it and the people threw plastic bottles at the man.
Security personnel came to the stage, shielded the President who immediately left the stage.
