Yung L could have signed to Chocolate City in 2016, but he declined.

In 2017, the dancehall act had a change of heart and his entry into the Choc Nation was announced via the record label's official Instagram page.

The post that was shared on Thursday, May 4, also revealed that Yung L will also be playing the role of creative director for the label.

The post was captioned, "Choc Boi Nation is proud to welcome Yung L to the family as the newest choc boi on the label. He would also play the role of creative director of CBN.

"CBN is committed to becoming a leading company in the industry & with the increasing demand from fans and music lovers; this led us to look for an addition to the family who will fit in with our ethos of genius and exceptionally good music.

"It is very fortunate that we were able to find someone of Yung L’s caliber to fill this role. CBN is excited to have him as a part of the family."

Yung L is related to the founder of Chocolate City, Audu Maikori.
