CHAN 2018: Super Eagles Win N270m
Though many will want to forget Sunday's final match at the just ended African Nations Championships, CHAN, it was not enitery a worthless competition for Nigeria.
At the end, Nigeria celebrated a best –ever performance at the African Nations Championship, picking up the silver medals and the runners –up prize money of $750,000 – better than the bronze medal outing in South Africa four years ago.
A battling performance by the Super Eagles was not enough as hosts Morocco fired from all cylinders to hit Nigeria 4-0 and win the African Nations Championship title in Casablanca on Sunday.
Zakaria Hadraf, who was voted man-of-the-match, banged in a brace while Walid El Karti and El Kaadi scored a goal each to give Morocco their first CHAN title ever.
With that, Morocco became the first nation to win both senior men’s titles in the African continent, following from their triumph in the AFCON in Ethiopia 42 years ago.
