The preparation of the home-based Super Eagles team is going well for now as they secured a win in their first friendly in Abuja.

After their heroics at the Super Six tournament in Kano, the Coach Salisu Yusuf tutored side has switched their training camp to Abuja where they pipped local-based side, Water FC of Abuja 1-0 on Friday.

It is their first test game since they began a training camp in Federal Capital Terittory this week.

Nasarawa United midfielder Douglas Achiv got the solitary goal that secured victory for the Super Eagles; firing home from a right cross in the second half.

The determined Water FC held what appeared to be the first team of the home-based Eagles in the first half.

Goalkeeper and skipper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Osas Okoro, Stephen Eze, Kalu Orji, Rabiu Ibrahim, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Anthony Okpotu, Dayo Ojo as well as youngsters Nura Ibrahim and Sunday Faleye all started for the CHAN Eagles.

In the second half, goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso, Sikiru Olatunbosun, Timothy Danladi, Kingsley Eduwo, Victor Mboama were introduced as coach Salisu Yusuf tried to look at as many of his call-ups as possible.

Overall, the Eagles dominated play, but will have to more clinical in front of goal going forward.

Many expected a bigger margin from Friday’s test match.
