Super Eagles have been hailed for coming from behind to beat Angola 2-1 in the quarter final of the Championship for African Nations in Morocco.

After the Super Eagles had missed several goal scoring chnaces, Angola took a shock lead through Va in the 55th minute.

Anthony Okpotu drew Nigeria back on level terms with a 90th minute goal.

The game stretched into extra time and Gabriel Okechukwu sealed victory for Nigeria.

The Eagles have qualified for the semifinal and set up a clash against Sudan.

“The boys have really and truly done Nigeria proud. There are still battles to conquer but we must commend them for overcoming strong oppositions right from the group stage to make it to the last four,” chairman, NFF Technical and Development Committee, Yusuf Ahmed said.

“Of course, it is one match at a time. But I am happy that we have a team that has been showing excellent spirit and resilience, and I see them going all the way.”

Nigeria has been in CHAN’s last four only once – when the squad coached by late Stephen Keshi eventually won bronze in South Africa 2014.
