CHAN 2018: Buhari 'Consoles' Battered Super Eagles
Though it is often said that success has many family members and failure is an orphan, the home-based Super Eagles are still commanding attention from the Presidency despite their disastrous finish at CHAN.
The Eagles were taught a bitter football lesson in Casablanca on Sunday night as they were demolished 4-0 by hosts, Morocco in the 2018 CHAN final.
However, the spokesperson of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye on Monday disclosed that President Buhari through his Chief of Staff , Abba Kyari was on hand to talk with the players to commend them from trying their best; getting to the final.
"Though it was not the result nor the performance that we wanted, the boys were still commended for their effort and told to aim higher going forward by the President through his Chief of Staff" Ibitoye stated.
President Buhari has often presented himself as a fan of the Super Eagles as he is pictured watching their games; the last being the slim semi final win over Sudan.
