Rivers Angels are determined to continue their tremendous performance in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and other teams will need to watch out.

The reigning champions have strengthened their team with some quality signings.

Making a return to the team after spending two seasons with Ostersund DFF of Kazakhstan and En Avant de Guingamp of France is the prolific midfielder, Evelyn Nwabuoku and compatriot, Cecilia Nku who spent last season with Medkila IL of Norway.

Also, the reigning champions have secured the services of the league’s 2016 highest goal scorer, Rafiat Sule from Bayelsa Queens.

Sule scored nine goals in the 2015/2016 NWFL season and helped her side, Bayelsa Queens progress to the 2016 Women’s Federation Cup finals but was absent when her side lost to eventual winners, Rivers Angels.

Halimatu Ayinde has also put pen to paper to join the ‘Jewel of Rivers’ as they prepare for the upcoming season after seeing out her contract with FC Minsk of Belarus.

The NWFL champions also captured the signature of Bayelsa Queens striker, Patience Kalu who was second highest goal scorer last season and she will be joined by the impressive Delta Queens striker Alice Ogebe.

Rivers Angels were crowned 2015/2016 NWFL champions following a 5-3 victory over Nasarawa Amazons on penalties at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.
