Car Thief Returns To Jail A Day After Release
Just a day after he was set free by an Akure magistrate court after he was remanded for stealing a car, the suspect was arrested by the state police over an attempt to steal a Toyota Corolla in Shasha Market, Akure.
The suspect was said to have been caught while trying to fiddle with the car which was parked by a certain Mrs. Olanipekun.
Confessing to the offence, 27-year-old Adeoye said he returned to the trade in order to raise money to offset his legal bill costing about 250,000 naira for a pending case in court.
"I was attracted to stealing Honda cars because the brand can be easily unlocked and disposed off.
"I sold two Honda CRV for N680,000 to feed myself and to pay my lawyer for his service, because I have a pending case in the court.”
According to a police source, the suspect who specialises in stealing SUVs, has stolen 32 different brands of Honda CRV cars within the last two years.
"The suspect stole 25 cars in 2015, seven this year and has been in and out of court many times." The source said.
Parading the suspects, the state Police image-maker, Femi Joseph, said the serial car thief, Adeoye, had been arrested many times and charged to court, but was surprised that as soon as he was let off the hook, he returned to the trade.Describing him as a notorious thief, Joseph said the suspect was freed by the court on June 15 and immediately returned to his evil trade.
