Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun is making it clear that Nigeria’s 2018 budget must accord priority to infrastructure as captured in the 2018 appropriation.

Adesoun said in a statemen on Sunday that the Federal Government’s capital budget would be strictly deployed to fund infrastructural projects across the country.

In the statement by her Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Mr Oluyinka Akintunde, Adeosun said not even the upcoming elections would affect the implementation of the capital budget.

Adeosun said this while representing Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at a lecture delivered to Course 26 participants at the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja.

Responding to a remark that the capital budget may be diverted to fund the general elections, Adeosun said that the present administration would not divert capital project funds for any other purpose.

“The Administration remains committed to infrastructure spending at the high levels of the past two years and the completion of major ongoing projects.” she said.

She reiterated the commitment of the administration to its programme of transformation, jobs and wealth creation across the country.
