While he was voted as one if not Nigeria's top performer in Monday night's gusty World Cup qualifying game in Yaounde, Leon Balogun has confessed that the Super Eagles struggled all through in their game against the Indomitable Lions.

With ball possession ending at 60-40 in favour of the Cameroonians, Balogun is indeed right but that said the Super Eagles did well enough to claim a vital point in the den of the Lions.

“I think we struggled all game, to be honest,” Balogun said after the game. “In Uyo we had the first 10 or 15 minutes that were difficult then we came into the game. Today it took us about 25 or 30 minutes then we scored the goal that gave us some confidence.

“But I think we were too deep all game, we were too busy with defending.

“I think it was not a penalty but at the end the way the Cameroonians played today, I think even if they were to have won there would have been nothing for us to complain about,” he said.

With the one point secured, the Super Eagles already have one foot in Russia as they top Group B standings with 10 points and need as little as one more point to secure a ticket to next year's Mundial in Russia.
