Calm Returns To Yobe After Army, Police Clash
Their primary assignment is to collaborate and safeguard residents against attacks from suspected terrorists and marauding herdsmen.
But officials of the military and police chose to use each other as live baits during target practice.
The incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday April 12, 2017 left residents of the town in fear as they wondered what caused the crisis.
In a statement on Thursday, the Nigeria Police said it is abreast of the unfortunate incident.
A joint investigation team has been constituted by the Chief of Defence Staff to “harmonize the findings from the preliminary investigations carried out by the Police and the Army in respect of the unfortunate incident”.
The team is expected to uncover the causes of the clash and deal with the situation appropriately to prevent a re-occurrence.
The Inspector General of Police also directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi and the Commissioner of Police Yobe State to sustain peace and order.
