The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has nominated Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the Coach of The Year award.

Rohr, who is the first African coach to qualify his country for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, is nominated alongside four others.

The 64-year-old will slog it out with Hector Cuper (Egypt), Hugo Broos (Cameroon), L'Hussein Amoutta (Wydad Athletic Club) and Mihayo Kazembe (TP Mazembe).

Rohr led Nigeria to top Group B Africa World Cup qualifiers zone, and booked the ticket to Russia with a game to spare.

Since taking over as coach of the Super Eagles in August 2016, Rohr has only lost one game, a 2-1 defeat to South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

It would be recalled that Victor Moses is in the running for the CAF Footballer of The Year award.

The Aiteo CAF Awards will be held on January 4, 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
